Students identify trends and forecast possibilities. (S.1) The subject of the blog was generational trends.Students plan strategies to guide inquiry. (S.3) Writing any blog post on any subject requires a foundation of meaningful questions to guide the writing.Students identify and define authentic problems and significant questions for investigation. (S.4) The post considered the question, "Is our generation too numb?"Students collect and analyze data to identify solutions and/or make informed decisions. (S.5) I collected statistics and other information on this topic.This blog meets the following Arkansas English Language Arts Standards:
Students shall employ a wide range of strategies as they write, using the writing process appropriately. (S.4) I used numerous rhetorical strategies when writing this post.Students shall apply knowledge of Standard English conventions in written work. (S.6) My post has no conventional English errors.Students shall develop personal style and voice as they approach the craftsmanship of writing. (S.7) This was one of the first pieces of writing where I could here my natural tone shining through between the words.Students shall apply a variety of strategies to read and comprehend printed material. (S.9) I obviously had to read several different articles/blogs when I was preparing for this blog.Students shall read, examine, and respond to a wide range of texts for a variety of purposes. (S.10) The reading materials for this subject were mainly only of one variety, but it was one of the many different types of writing I was exposed to over the year.Students hall acquire and apply skills in vocabulary development and word analysis to be able to read fluently. (S.11) I used vocabulary learned in my AP Language and Composition class in this blog."You can approach the act of writing with nervousness, excitement, hopefulness, or even despair--the sense that you can never completely put on the page what's in your mind and heart. You can come to the act with your fists clenched and your eyes narrowed, ready to kick *** and take down names. You can come to it because you want a girl to marry you or because you want to change the world. Come to it any way but lightly. Let me say it again: you must not come lightly to the blank page."
