Track 8 - Learning and Stuff...

The first project of the year was a group research project and my group's topic was Creationism vs. Evolution. We spent the whole first 9 weeks of the school year on this project and it was the first major research paper I had ever done.

This project helped me meet the following National Educational Technology Standards:

Students evaluate and select information sources and digital tools based on the appropriateness to specific tasks.  (S.3) Obviously a research paper of any length or topic would accomplish this standard.Students process data and report results.  (S.3) That is what you do in a research paper.Students plan and manage activites to develop a solution or complete a project.  (S.4) Planning ahead, setting realistic goals, and setting deadlines were a huge part of our group's success. We all worked hard to set and exceed our goals.Students use multiple processes and diverse perspectives to explore alternative solutions.  (S.4) A totally polar topic like Creationism vs. Evolution would clearly require diverse perspectives and different methods of research.
